Do you sometimes get bored with your yard & garden? Would you like to update it cheaply? Here are some quick and easy ways to freshen your yard & garden for summer without spending much money.
Frugal Update #1: Rearrange
Just like you rearrange your furniture inside the house, you can rearrange your garden art in your outdoor rooms. Sometimes when I get my objet d’art pieces home, I just plop them down any ole where and there they stay. Until… that day when inspiration hits! And, *facepalm*
a beautiful arrangement happens and I wonder why didn’t I think of that earlier?

It might be arranging items by color.
My Ginger Rock Garden corrals all my purple things. They make such an impact this way.
Grouping items by type.
In my Hidden Garden, I want the feel of an old-world formal garden that has been there for years. One way of achieving this look is to make a grouping of all my clay colored and natural looking pieces. EVEN the broken pieces are used, which lends even more to a timeless and forever feel.
Or maybe making a collection by use or purpose.
Scattering items all around seems like a good idea, until you see them en masse! A large grouping of similar items will make WAY more impact and stop people in their tracks to say WOW! Gather like items and display them together.
Mr. Menace has plans to build a pole barn to display all our old antique tools. Right now there are some in the garage, some in the shed, some under the deck and some at his old house. We even have a bunch in the study. This is a clear example of how NOT to display your treasures. Do as I say, not as I do.
Frugal Update #2: Color
Maybe that broken wheelbarrow that you wanted to plant up with roses or hydrangeas is orange. Bleh! Or red. Double Bleh! and your choice of colors are cool colors such as blues and greens. Spray paint to the rescue!
Maybe you are just tired of black butterflies.
Or you suddenly realize that rusty brown just recedes into the background.
Suppose you just want it to look fresh and clean!
Or maybe after 10 years, your teacup has mildewed and faded into the background. Update it by giving it a good cleaning and then use some bold spray paint.
So many ways to update yard art, all for the price of a can (or 3) of spray paint!
Walk outside. Take a glass of tea with you. Sit down and gaze out over the yard. What could you move to make a grouping? What needs a fresh pretty color to make it interesting again?
Now. Get out that spray paint and make things pretty!
And don’t forget to buy this handy dandy sprayer nozzle handle! Your index finger will thank you.

I love finding something that I can reuse. Especially if it is FREE! ๐
I really need to do something about grouping my stuff a bit better. It tends to end up all willy nilly in the garden and then trying to find it to bring it in when winter comes? UGH! Love your ideas!
When the perfect idea FINALLY hits me, it’s a … “WOW I coulda hada V-8” moment. ๐
