There are many advantages to have bee hives in your backyard. We bought two established hives about 2 years ago, but I tell you, it continues to be a learning process. Those cute little buggers just won’t let us in on what goes on in those teeny tiny little brains. In fact, we just discovered that we actually lost our largest hive and we are so sad. No idea why really. Except they decided it was time to go. We assume maybe the queen died and so they took off.
Anyway, I’m sharing a couple of fun videos.
This first one is of the bee hives and their feeding station.

You might have noticed that their feeding station was empty in that first video. I am guessing that’s why THIS happened:
I haven’t seen any hummingbirds since I found this. I had no idea they would do this. Did you?
(It looks like you have the same video loaded twice.) If you’re referring to bees on a hummingbird feeder – YES! – that often happens in the fall to us. If you Google it you will see it is not uncommon! 🙂
Thanks! I am trying to use an unfamiliar tablet while out of town. Is it fixed now? 🙂
Yes, they will empty my hummingbird feeders in no time. There is nothing for bees to eat right now. My feeders are even “bee proof” – not. But I don’t begrudge the bees. Even though the hummingbirds have all left town by now, I’m still keeping the feeders full for the bees.
I am just glad the fat little bees can’t fit into the holes and drown like the yellow jackets do! I don’t really mind either, but I do miss my hummingbirds. They should still be here. Where are you located Kathi? 🙂
Yep they’re definitely searching for food. Mine are doing the same thing and the squirrels are hoarding everything they can,
I wish you lived a little closer I have a ton of honey bees that could use a loving home 🙂 Honey candy is one of my favorite candies in the world along with some dark chocolate lol !
Oh I do love dark chocolate! And we’d love to collect your bees and give them a good home. 🙂
