It is possible to take an ugly metal utility shed and transform it into a cute outdoor garden shed and adding interesting details will make all the difference.
Just a few weeks back, I showed you how my idea of siding the old storage building exploded into this delightful little updated storage shed. Here is our pitiful little storage shed in its BEFORE state:
So now that my shed is so cute, I was ready to start decorating it. The inside is still a work in progress but the outside is mostly complete. Of course, we know that decorating is NEVER really finished.
I knew I wanted to hang my washtubs, so that’s where I began.

Next, I looked around for something to use as shutters. When I spied these metal rose pieces in my stash of stuff, I wondered…..
They were a perfect fit!
Now to move on to the front of the building. I knew I wanted to hang these decorative faux window guards/planters and decided that they would look good beside the door.
And I thought I knew what I wanted on the opposite side of the door, but it took me a couple of tries to get it just right.
Next is to get the screen attached to the door and then figure out how to furnish and decorate the inside. Any ideas? I could use some help on this one.
I love your new shed and how you have decorated it. The shutters are awesome.

Thank you! I need to do some yard sale and thrift store shopping to get the interior set up now!
What a great transformation! 🙂
Thank you. I was actually surprised at how fantastic it turned out! I knew it would be good, but not how good. Thanks for visiting. 🙂

What a great idea to use old wood to hide a metal storage building. Looking forward to seeing how you decorate the inside.

Judith the shed project has been so much fun. To turn something destined for the burn pile into something beautiful and have it be my most popular DIY is awesome. Thanks for hosting the social. 🙂

Hi Amanda! Thank you so much. This will probably always be my favorite makeover, because it is such a drastic change from out it started out. I am ready for Merry Monday again. 🙂
Oooohhh, those shutters are wonderful but the window guards are really wonderful. those could be such snazzy interior wall decorations also. Loving your new and improved she-shed.
What would we do without our stashes? Mr.Furry and our youngest daughter are always bugging me to get rid of “stuff”, no way, never know when some old thing will be perfect object for what I need.
guess I need to get my own shed so can keep all my.goodies. Aren’t you glad you had those incredible rose shutters now?
Good job,love screen door also.
Have a great week
I know, right???!!! When Mr. Menace brings something home people say to me, I bet you are so tired of that, or Oh no, don’t you just hate it, (or something similar), and I’m like… I LOVE IT! He has the knack for really cool stuff! I like stuff! hahaha And as you said you never know when something will work out perfectly! Like these shutters. Thanks for visiting, and even more for understanding, JaneEllen! 🙂
